Is there really such a thing as a "free credit report"? Actually there is, by law you are allowed a free copy of your credit report from each of the credit reporting agencies once a year. You should take advantage of this as there are instances of errors on some credit reports....although rare.
If you do find an error on the report contact the agency and ask them to help you remove the error. In most cases the error can be easily removed, but sometimes the agency will stick to their guns and make removing the error much more difficult and time consuming.
If you watch TV and see the "free credit report" ads .....don't be fooled. They are offering a free copy of the report but you must buy their credit monitoring service in order to get that quote....free report.
